Uepi, on a mission!

So Ueda was/is in Indonesia?! somewhere around Oct 28? (shows up at about the 45secs mark)

Seems to have been on a sort of graffiti cleanup project team from Japan?

Wow, talk about surprises.

Well, I'm glad he's doing something.

It's good and all for the environment and promotion...?

And not too long ago, he was seen in Shanghai Airport, right? What went on there?

Well all we can do is just wait to see where all this is going.

Us, Potatoes~

Wow, how do you discover this clip?
kissmegreen (Lyan)kissmegreen on November 1st, 2016 12:04 pm (UTC)
I saw it posted on Twitter. It must have been a shock to those who saw the news live.
Jopiejopiety on November 1st, 2016 04:23 am (UTC)
my country~~~~
and the city where i spent my 4 years college.....
my friends are going crazy now when they realize that he should be one of those japanese volunteers they saw on streets...
we never expect it...
who would imagine that he is in our streets cleaning up walls from improper murals???
and honestly it made me embarrassed as a citizen!!!
those walls are parts of (ancient kingdom) palace and its surroundings, a cultural and historical heritage of our people, but see what we did...sorry TT_TT

although i dont live in jogja anymore, actually now i live only 3-4 hours to ride there....
but by the time we realize it was Tatchan, the activity should have ended days before TT_TT

Anyway... i'm glad that he ever set foot on my country :)
Thank you Tatchan~~ \(^O^)/

Oh nice! well he was so near, yet so far but it must still feel nice that he was there XD

So was this a special project? How are the Japanese involved? Or rather, why are they involved?

It's nice that Tatchan took part in the cleanup of something historical. That adds even more meaning to his action ^^

Dirty walls aside, look at it this way, at least now he knows a bit more about your country and not just Bali XD

What's the name of this palace?
Jopiejopiety on November 2nd, 2016 03:00 am (UTC)
yes true.... it was so near yet felt too far to reach...
by the time the clip (that show his face) shown in our weekly news, i'm sure he's left the city already....
local newspaper keep mentioning "japanese volunteers" only, with only name of Fujimoto Yasushi (45) -i guess he's the captain or leader of the activity or something-
and my friends literally scream when they watch the news (shocked from seeing Ueda's face there)...

the news state that this man Fujimoto indeed has the habit to clean up places like that (he stated he often clean up shrines in japan, and perhaps other places in other country also)
it is also said that japanese tv also recording this activity, so perhaps there will be some news about it in japan too?

that's what the news said... i'm not so sure...

yeah, well, some people still think that Bali is not a part of Indonesia, so, dont know about that....

and yeah, actually yogyakarta is also known as cultural and educational city, so it's somehow famous i guess, it was once one of the biggest kingdoms in Java island..

We commonly call the palace "Kraton" or "Kraton Jogja" with kraton actually means palace, residence of the king and his family. (i just look up in google that the official name is "Kraton Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat" - shame on me, i just keep calling the place "kraton")

oh, and one of the beautiful place they clean up is called Taman Sari, the royal garden, also known as water palace, since it's also used for royal bathing (i guess)

try to google "Kraton Yogyakarta" or "Taman Sari Yogyakarta" if u're interested :)

fyi, the "king (or in the regional term is Sultan)" still lives in the palace, in our present government, the city serve as "special region". its kind of same with provinces, but instead of governor form common people, the Sultan (and his descendants) is the governor, and he rules the city (with some kind of monitoring from our main government)

sorry i'm babbling too much.. just cant help it :p

Oh so that's why happened. Thanks for the info. I hope he gets more involved in these voluntary works~ and I wonder who he ended up doing it... he didn't give off the feeling of being into these things... but Ueda has always been low key.

I know about Sultans, though I didn't realise that Indonesia was predominantly Muslim~ learning stuff. Seems like your country has a very long and interesting history ^^
Jopiejopiety on November 3rd, 2016 09:21 am (UTC)
he does have unexpected sides of him, other that he as an artist, and we'll like him anyway, so yeah... i'll just keep supporting him... :)

yep, we're about 90% Muslim now. In the earlier centuries it was Hindhu and Buddha..
and yeahh... looooonnnggg history..
just like every country has i guess :)

Once a potato... I think instead of an hyphen they should put a potato ^^
