Internet File Sharing

(c) 2011.12.13 KZM kzy223

I feel Uepi's distress!!!!

As many of us or maybe everyone should already know - the internet is under attack where file-sharing is concerned.

Below is a list of Hosting sites already ceased or pending investigation.
  • - MegaUpload - Closed.
  • - FileServe - Closed, no premium sold.
  • - FileJungle - Deleting files. Closed in the USA ..
  • - UploadStation - Closed in the USA ..
  • - FileSonic - The news is arbitrary (under investigation by the FBI).
  • - VideoBB - will disappear soon.
  • - Uploaded - Non U.S. and the FBI in pursue of owners.
  • - FilePost - Elimination of all materials (let alone executables, PDF files, TXTS).
  • - videoz - Closed and locked in countries affiliated with the U.S. ..
  • - 4shared - Elimination of copyrighted files and waiting in line at the FBI.
  • - MediaFire - Called to testify in the next 90 days and will open doors for the FBI.
  • - Org torrent - could disappear with everything they have within 30 days, "is under criminal investigation"
  • - MIRC Network Share - pending case decision to continue or finish everything.
  • - Koshiki - operate 100%, Japan will not add to the SOPA / PIPA
  • - Box Shienko - operate 100% China / Korea will join the SOPA / PIPA
It's expected that the next big shut down may be 'Mediafire' and we all know how that will affect fandom! Many LJ communities have already closed membership as well as many sites where we source information are already going private in a bid to protect whatever privacy remains.

The talk is - Mediafire will be investigated in the next 90 days... that doesn't leave us much time to do anything than click download and save~

Felt like crying. This is seriously devastating.
I've been DL-ing as much as i can during the weekend knowing things will get worst. and I guess I should continue doing till for this 90days before everything ends...sigh~

That's a really bad news. Although Mediafire's CEO thinks they wouldn't suffer the fate Megaupload did, there's no telling what will happen. Best to download and save what we can now.

I also feel distress like Uepi now xP

just when i don't have any more space in my laptop. i've been trimming the contents already, deleting all that are non-kat-tun and, well, nonwork related (hehehe). it's really painful to erase some of my files that are unsubbed, since i can only understand 5% of the words. waaahhh.... i don't even know where to start! i never even bothered to download magazine scans, but then, should i begin downloading them? how about their cms? is there a need for me to collect them? or the episodes of going that are mostly unsubbed and that i can't even understand!!!! waaaaahhhh!!!! i'm in panic mode!!!

and i only have 18gb left! I need to prioritize! Whhaaahhhh!!!!

or do i erase everything in my external harddrive and dedicate it fully to whatever kat-tun stuff i have accumulated over the past months? it's not much but more than half of my memory is filled with kame's dramas... priorities... priorities... and what if in the next couple of months i get tired of fangirling, what will i do with my kat-tun files? and my regret over erasing the other stuff i've sacrificed for kat-tun for sake of memory space....

waahhh... so i need to buy a new external hard drive. but if i do that, i won't have money to buy Chain...

huhuhuhu....
kissmegreen (Lyan)kissmegreen on January 25th, 2012 02:21 am (UTC)
well first of all, you neeeed to buy CHAIN!

Have you heard 'LOCK ON'? It's amazing and a wonderful motivator to get the album...

I mostly keep magazine for the pictures, there are cute moments in them that I'll want to remember plus, when my Japanese is good enough, I hope to read these old interviews...

as for getting tired of KT, I don't see that happening anytime soon...

As for dramas, the only dramas I have saved are Bemu and Runaway - and I'm sure when push comes to shove, I'll erase them... but I only keep videos I think are memorable... I really don't save CMs or Promo vids - only things like Sekaiichi, KZM and recent TV performances and some old vids like utawara etc (only some - the funniest ones).
tabbitabbi on January 25th, 2012 04:52 am (UTC)
Hahaha ofcourse. I am waiting for my LE :)

OH my Lock on is on repeat one on itunes... hehehe i'm growing crazy with excitement hahahaha.

Are your KZM copies subbed already?

This is way worse than I thought initially. I honestly thought this would blow over quickly but now it seems it's going to be more like after Napster, years to get back to where we were. Creepy aspect of this is that there is so much hatred directed towards USA because of the assault on filesharing. Just read the boards... Ugh.</p>

I notice that Rapidshare does not seem affected for now. Also, people are talking about private sharing rooms and other ways to exchange files, some of which are too exotic for my modest knowledge.

Internet File Sharing
Yes. no problem.
pan-chanpandanyan on January 24th, 2012 02:36 pm (UTC)
This...was what we were afraid of all along right?? >.< When I thought of the possibility of MF going down I thought there would be other alternative file sharing sites but it looks like they're gonna go soon or are already gone too.

And my mind's so messed up now that I have no idea what to save or what to dl >.<

I really don't want this to happen but even if it does I know this can't totally ruin fandom for us, I'm sure there'll be always other ways to love the boys and flail over them as many ways as we can >.< Just because these acts have ruined the internet I really really don't think they can stand a chance against fandom >.<

*sigh* Anyway thanks for informing us T.T Now to figure out what I should start saving...>.<

Re: Internet File Sharing
via Five Alternatives to MegaUpload
http://lifehacker.com/5877694/five-great-alternatives-to-megaupload

I'm trying out Minus.com, but contrary to the article, it's 10GB of space and only becomes 50GB via enough referrals. Uncertain how this site may fare in the upcoming days/weeks/months.

Re: Internet File Sharing
Oh Kool... thanks for the link - I've been eying 'rapishare' as the next possible alternative (and yousendit has crossed my mind ) since I've read somewhere about rapidshare being in the clear and I've used that file sharing service before - pretty good...

and rapidshare covers the file size and lifespan so that's good... I did a brief scan of minus.com... but hopefully, mediafire stays with us - the CEO seems confident that there's nothing to fear - so we'll see....

Damn. Now I'm depressed. But I kind of figured things would just go from bad to worse. The feds are out to make an example and letting anyone go would not get the job done.
The only party that is gonna benefit from all this is my hard drive. KAT-TUN and toku sure gave it a workout.
